Energy Performance Certificates for homeowners, landlords and builders
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) were introduced in October 2008. Whenever you buy, sell or rent a property you must by law have a valid EPC.
EPCs are a documentary record of your building's energy efficiency. The certificate grades energy performance in bands from 'A' (most efficient) to 'G' (least efficient). Average energy banding for domestic properties in the UK is currently Grade D.
